Exposition photographique : vagues de pixels | Journées européennes du patrimoine

a Tribute to the Sea
Taking the sea as its theme, the Surface Sans Cible association is proposing a photographic exhibition paying tribute to the marine world.
Each Surface Sans Cible photographer, working according to his or her own style and inspiration, will pay tribute to the sea through images processed using old photographic processes revisited and retouched with the computer.
The artists? images will illustrate the Norman people?s attachment to the sea, the preservation of the marine environment and respect for this fragile and vulnerable nature.
Although Ouistreham will be the main focus, the seashores of the Normandy coast in general will also be photographed.
From traditional processes to pixels
The photographs will be taken using both analog and digital processes. The exhibition will parallel the image processing techniques of the silver age with their equivalent in the world of digital photography. Computer retouching effects will be juxtaposed with digital prints (real and fake cyanotypes, gold and selenium sepia toning, digital avatars...). Will visitors be able to tell the difference?
The artists present genuine museum pieces (Daguerreotypes, stereoscopic plates, etc.) from their own collections
The Exhibition Fifty original photographs by artists from the Surface Sans Cible collective will be on display in the Grange aux Dîmes. Several collectors' items will also be on display: glass plates, stereograms, vintage cameras...
