On September 30, 1853, Johannes Brahms introduced himself to Robert and Clara Schumann. A musical complicity and deep friendship immediately developed between the young composer and the renowned couple. After Robert?s internment and death in 1856, Johannes and Clara pursued a lifelong relationship that was as passionate as it was platonic. This concert brings together intimate pieces by these two soul mates.
The Orchestre de Caen is delighted to welcome Vineta Sareika-Völkner, concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. A former member of the Artemis Quartet, the Latvian violinist is the first woman to hold this position since the orchestra was founded in 1882! She is reunited here with her faithful accomplice, the Norman pianist and accomplished chamber musician Amandine Savary.
