The legendary big band celebrates the immense artist William James Basie, known as "Count Basie". Pianist, organist and bandleader, he became the figurehead of the big band era and one of the greatest pianists of swing jazz. His orchestra established itself alongside those of Ellington, Goodman and Dorsey.
With eighteen Grammy Awards to its credit, the Count Basie Orchestra is the only original, authentic jazz ensemble from the Big Band era, founded by Count Basie in 1935. Now led by trumpeter Scotty Barnhart, the 18-piece Count Basie Orchestra features an unrivalled array of instrumentalists whose combined skills have taken them to the very top of the international jazz world for decades.
