Concert : Passions – Venezia 1600-1750

Les Cris de Paris, led by Geoffroy Jourdain, plunge into this shifting musical ocean where sacred music becomes theatrically incarnate, while secular music is inspired by transcendence.

The ensemble invites us to follow an audacious sacred and secular Way of the Cross, at the heart of Venetian Baroque music, between 1600 and 1750. Between vocal pages and varied instrumental formations, the program brings together some twenty works by Claudio Monteverdi, Francesco Cavalli and Antonio Caldara, as well as lesser-known musicians such as Antonio Lotti and Biagio Marini, striking for their audacity and expressive power.
