Concert “Sonata Flamenca”

Heels strike the stage, fingers dance on guitars: the irresistible vitality of flamenco unites music and dance in an unbreakable bond. Folies d'Espagne, fandango, malagueña, legends and other serenades take us through the centuries with works by the Baroque Luigi Boccherini, the Romantic Matteo Bevilacqua, the modern Isaac Albéniz and Joaquim Malats, not forgetting our contemporary José-Luis Narvaez who, in the Sonata flamenca, evokes three key moments in bullfighting: the challenge, the estocade and the duel. For his part, Enrique Granados drew inspiration from the priceless paintings of Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) to compose his opera Goyescas or Los Majos enamorados [The Young Lovers], of which the Intermezzo is the most famous piece, here adapted for two guitars. After the Ticas Lindas from Costa Rica to whet our appetites, Spain comes to life before our very eyes? sometimes with ardor, sometimes with nostalgia, but always with poetic sensuality.
