Nine historians, nine iconographic documents of various kinds (ancient manuscripts, archaeological finds, seals, paintings, engravings, photographs, etc.), a dozen entries into the history of Caen and Normandy since Antiquity. The aim is to show the public how history is made, and how to decipher an ancient image. The images will be chosen in consultation with the organizers and contributors, to vary approaches (various themes, in line with those highlighted in the History Days program) and periods (Antiquity, Middle Ages, modern times, contemporary times), with a view to placing the history of Caen in the context of the major dynamics of the period in question.
