Exposition “Agnès Rosenstiehl, 60 ans d’écrits et d’illustrations”

The Bibliothèque de Caen and the Institut Mémoires de l?édition contemporaine invite you to discover different facets of the work of author and illustrator Agnès Rosenstiehl, creator of the unforgettable Mimi Cracra, through an exhibition of original creations.

Her famous Mimi Cracra has marked generations with her mischievous spirit, but Agnès Rosenstiehl?s work is much broader than her facetious character. Blending the written word and drawing, she explored all the subjects that questioned her, with a unique, joyful and lively freedom.

The exhibition, presented by the Institut Mémoires de l?édition contemporaine and the Caen library, is the fruit of a selection of original creations by Agnès Rosenstiehl herself, presented to the public for the first time. It shows all aspects of a work marked by an unconditional taste for playing with the meaning of words and the musicality of language.

Of her works published in the 70s, such as De la coiffure, La naissance and Les filles, we remember the feminist impact. It is this very feminism that recently led Editions La Ville Brûle to reissue these titles.
The exhibition is an opportunity to discover or rediscover the astonishing timeliness of her societal and environmental message. It also invites us to follow the many affinities of this great art-loving reader. The exhibition covers all three levels of the library, and is open to the public during opening hours. There are also opportunities to explore the exhibition.

A fun tour booklet is also available. A competition is also open to all. At the end of the competition, Agnès Rosenstiehl will give the best participants a copy of Drôle de dictionnaire? by Mimi Cracra, published by Chemins De Traverse Jeunesse.
