Exposition “Gabarit”

During their residency at L'Artothèque de Caen, Justine Eliès and Arthur Heilporn developed a four-handed approach to their domestic and geological landscapes, nourished by a certain affection for gestures, techniques and craft skills. Through exploration, fabrication or transformation, objects and tools become pretexts for playing with shapes and materials.
Both use a process of gleaning images, texts, photographs, drawings and archival documents, both personal and otherwise. This collection begins a process of arranging motifs, shapes, colors, gestures and objects. Together, they shape an imaginary yet familiar landscape, where manual and digital creation intermingle.
For the exhibition Gabarit, Justine Eliès and Arthur Heilporn establish a dialogue between printed images and volumes. They weave semantic links, relationships of color, gesture and material, which are articulated between the different pieces in the exhibition. Solid tools become fragile, scales are modified and forms multiplied.
