Exposition : le camp d’aviation de Lion sur mer pendant la Grande Guerre

For one month, an exhibition on the Lion sur mer airfield: "Aérodrome - Escadrille V487, on vous raconte!"
This exhibition had been presented for the first time in Lion sur mer, on the occasion of the centenary of the Great War in 2018. At the initiative of the Bibliothèque pour Tous, its creators, Jacques Rivière and Francis Dubrulle, have agreed to share their research on the airfield established at Lion sur mer in 1917 with the public once again.
During the 1st World War, the hangars and runway of Escadrille V487 were set up on the western outskirts of Lion sur Mer, in the fields of today's GAEC, still referred to by locals as "l'aviation". Tasked with monitoring the coast and detecting German submarines, the V487 squadron was active right up to the end of the war. Many documents and photo-cards are presented: the hangar, aircraft models, mechanics and aviators... As passionate investigators, Francis and Jacques have added new elements to the previous presentation. Testimonials found on the backs of old postcards recount the outings and even the damage suffered by one of the planes on landing. They will be delighted to share their discoveries with visitors, and will be available to answer questions on Saturdays November 2 and 9 from 3.30pm.
This aerodrome is a piece of local history within history, to be (re)discovered throughout the month of November.
