To mark the 81st anniversary of the Normandy Landings, Les Amis de la Villa Louis are organizing the 4th Swing D-Day Festival to be held at Lion-sur-Mer and Sword Beach from Friday June 6 to Sunday June 8, 2025:
- A plane: an exceptional display of a Spitfire (town hall parking lot). Join us with your children, family and friends to see this iconic WWII British fighter and understand the crucial role played by airmen during the D-Day landings,
-A photo exhibition: "Les héros du D-Day - Pilotes français et britanniques de la Royal Air Force" at Lion-sur-Mer, from June 6 to August 31, 2025,
-Vintage vehicles: military and civilian vehicles displayed around the Spitfire,
-The Sword Beach Grand Parade, with a parade of military and civilian vehicles between Lion-sur-Mer and Ouistreham, and pipers (organized by BOWU),
-Sport: with a sporting and memorial challenge by the Royal Engineers. They will cross the 5 D-Day beaches on foot, arriving at Lion-sur-Mer in the late morning of June 6, 2025, 81 years after they landed there,
-Duty to remember: conference "Les héros du D-Day dans la Royal Air Force" with historian Stéphane Simonnet, broadcast of documentaries made available by ICI Radio, TV, Digital ("Ici Marcel Ouimet et "Sous le ciel de l'occupation"), podcasts ("Les voix du Commando Kieffer") at Le Trianon cinema,
-Music and dance: 3 pre-war balls hosted by DJ Swing Maniac and his vintage 78s, live concerts (Normandy Jazz Patrol & Melon Jazz Band), Pin-ups (The Satin Dollz - singing and tap dancing) and Swing dance demonstrations and initiations for the public (Rock'n Go).
