Le Grand accélérateur national d’ions lourds (GANIL) | RDV Découverte

An international research laboratory, the Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds has been based in Caen since the early 1980s. Research topics cover a broad spectrum, from nuclear physics to radiobiology, atomic physics and solid-state physics. At different scales (nucleus, atom, molecule, cell tissue, etc.), GANIL studies matter using stable and radioactive ion beams produced by gas pedals.
The tour begins with a presentation of GANIL and the atomic nucleus. It will continue with a tour of the facilities, following the path of the ion beams at GANIL, from the ion sources to the experimental rooms.
