Portraits de Caennais ordinaires en 2025 : des personnes extraordinaires

Le Tunnel, an association dedicated to highlighting the links between residents and their city, brings you a series of podcasts that capture the essence of what makes Caen such a special city.

In 2025, the Millenium will shine the spotlight on those who shape the city. Le Tunnel proposes to design and preserve a symbol of the singular and/or collective bond that unites the people of Caen to their city, through a series of audio portraits.

A city is built by its inhabitants, who find reasons to live, to undertake and to become attached to their environment, sometimes without really knowing why. But what is it that drives certain people to forge such a strong bond with Caen? How do they call themselves Caennais, and what does it really mean to be Caennais?

Caennais and Caennais, local figures or neighborhood characters, recount their unique bond with the city, whether they were born here, welcomed here or inspired here.

Orchestrated by the association Le Tunnel, this series of audio portraits highlights what makes people feel Caennais in 2025, while preserving their attachment to their thousand-year-old city.

The Le Tunnel association, expert in outreach to local residents and marginalized groups, is organizing podcast workshops in 10 Caen neighborhoods. Running from September 2024 to April 2025, these workshops will train amateur reporters to produce portraits and interviews, involving young and old alike. The portraits will be produced from January to July 2025 and broadcast from March to December 2025. This approach provides an opportunity to discover the media and forge intergenerational links.

Call for portraits
The project consists of 100 portraits of Caennais people of all ages and backgrounds, including local and public figures. A call for testimonials and a local jury will select the participants between September 2024 and March 2025. A few personalities connected with Caen may also be included at the suggestion of local residents. The Tunnel team and jury will ensure the inclusion and representation of all generations.
