Walking tour. On Thursday May 8, 2025, the "Randonnées pour la Paix" will take place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Europe, to preserve the memory of the men who suffered to defend our freedom.
They will also pay tribute to all those who in 2025 are still suffering the consequences of conflicts around the world.
7 itineraries from the Côte de Nacre to the Caen Memorial.
This event is also part of Caen?s millennium celebrations, since "La Paix et la Trêve de Dieu" (Peace and God?s Truce) was programmed by William the Conqueror at the Council held in Caen in the 11th century.
Route n°1: Liberté, j?écris ton nom 3 km
Departure 3 pm from Ardennes Abbey, towards the Memorial. Short family hike,
accessible to all, including strollers, people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users
Itinerary n°2: In tribute to the Nobel Peace Prize winners: 10 km
Departure 1 p.m. from Cambes en Plaine British Cemetery
Route n°3: Here began the liberation of Europe 23 Km,
Departure 9 h in front of the Juno Beach Center at Courseulles-sur mer
Route n°4: In the footsteps of the Canadians 17 Km
Departure 10:30 am from the Bény-Reviers Canadian cemetery parking lot
Route n°5: In the footsteps of Léon Gautier 22 Km
Start at 8 a.m. in Place Lofi Ouistreham
Route n°6: In the footsteps of the VIth Airborne 21 km
Departure at 9:30 am from the German battery at Merville-Franceville
Route 7: In the footsteps of the Liberators 13 km
Departure 12:40 pm; Major Howard Esplanade near Pegasus Bridge, Bénouville
In partnership with the region?s "Battelfield for Peace" operation, this event will benefit Handicap International.
Peace picnics will be held near the Pegasus Bridge and in the Memorial Valley before the afternoon hikes.
