On the program for this afternoon of encounters:2pm - Literary encounter "Mémoire des Territoires "Petra Rautiainen, a Finnish author born in 1988 in Lapinlahdelta, is preparing a thesis on the representation of the Sami people in the Finnish media. Passionate about issues of equality, minorities, their cultures and historical representations, her first novel, Un pays de neige et de cendres, is a bestseller translated into twelve languages.
She will present her book La Mémoire des mers. Le Seuil, 2024. Jalvvi Niillas Holmberg is a poet born in 1990, musician (six albums) and Sami activist from Ohcejohka. An advocate of the Sami cause and the rights of indigenous peoples to self-determination, he opposes extractivism in Sami areas. His work has been translated into ten languages. In 2023, he was awarded the Eino Leino Prize and twice nominated for the Nordic Council?s Grand Prize for Literature.

Translated from Finnish by Sébastien Cagnoli.15h30 - Literary encounter "An hour with "Hallgrímur Helgason, born in 1959 in Reykjavík, is a writer, painter, short story writer, illustrator and translator. He studied at the Icelandic Academy of Arts and the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1982, he has worked as a freelance artist and writer.
He will present his book Soixante kilos de soleil. Gallimard, 2024. Translated from Icelandic by Éric Boury.17h - Rencontre littéraire "Journaux intimes "Pirkko Saisio, born in 1949, is a novelist, screenwriter, lyricist, playwright, director, actress and professor at the Helsinki School of Dramatic Art. She has written over a dozen plays, a dozen novels and collections of short stories (under the pseudonyms Jukka Larsson or Eva Wein). Winner of the Finlandia Prize in 2003 for her novelized autobiography, she explores social realities, human relationships and the issues of crime and punishment.
She will be presenting her triolgy Helsinki Trilogy ? Volume 1 ? Le Plus Petit Dénominateur commun. Trilogie de Helsinki - Tome 2 - À contre-jour. Robert Laffont, 2024. Jukka Viikilä, born in 1973, is a Finnish writer and playwright, twice awarded the Finlandia Prize. He has published two collections of poetry: Poems (2008) and Poems II (2010), the first of which was nominated for the Helsingin Sanomat literature prize. His poems have been translated into English, Italian and Hebrew. In 2011, he co-wrote the fiction encyclopedia Encyclopedia.
