On the program for this day of encounters:11am - Literary encounter "Amours impossibles "þóra Hjörleifsdóttir, born in Iceland, is a member of the Imposter Poets women?s writing collective, with whom she has published two collections. Her first novel, Magma, went straight to the top of the Icelandic bestseller list. The novel sparked discussion and debate in Icelandic society, and has been described as a must-read.
She will be presenting her book Magma. Agullo, 2024. Born in 1990 in Kosovo, Pajtim Statovci emigrated with his family to Finland at the age of two to escape the war. A professor of comparative literature at the University of Helsinki, he is the author of La Traversée (Buchet-Chastel, 2021), following Mon chat Yugoslavia (Denoël, 2016). For his third novel, Bolla, he won the prestigious Prix Finlandia in 2019. It has been translated into 17 languages.

Our friend Guy Abgrall, actor and writer, returns to the auditorium of Caen?s Musée des Beaux-Arts! She will present her book 11 %. Gallmeister, 2024. Lars Elling, born in 1966, is an artist who studied at the National Academy of Arts in Bergen. He has exhibited in New York, Berlin and Oslo, and has received commissions from the National Museum and the Arts Council. As an illustrator, he has won several awards. Les Princes de l?étang aux Finnois is his first novel.

A brilliant journalist, she heads the news department of Icelandic public television, where she presents the news. After L?Île (Gaïa, 2018) and La Lectrice disparue (Gaïa, 2020), Éruptions, amour et autres cataclysmes is her third novel.
She will be presenting her book Éruptions, amour et autres cataclysmes. Gaïa, 2024. Jón Kalman Stefánsson, born in 1963, is the author of a major body of work translated worldwide. His previous novel, Ton absence n?est que ténèbres, won the Prix du livre étranger France Inter. Ásta, Entre ciel et terre and D?ailleurs, les poissons n?ont pas de pieds are already classics.

All meetings take place in the auditorium of Caen's Musée des Beaux-Arts. Admission free, subject to availability.
From 4:30 to 5:00 pm, come and meet the day?s authors at the Lire à Caen bookshop stands in the msuée gallery, and have your books signed by Pajtim Statovci, Þóra Hjörleifsdóttir, Maren Uthaug, Lars Elling, Sigríður Hagalín Björnsdóttir and Jón Kalman Stefánsson. Each literary encounter is punctuated by its own signing session.
