On December 14 and 15, the Maison du roman populaire d?Amavada (MRP for its French acronym) is offering a weekend devoted to the character of Sherlock Holmes, the phenomenal impact of the brilliant detective on the public, and the thousands of adaptations, avatars and pastiches he has generated.
The 60 adventures recounted by Arthur Conan Doyle are far from the only adventures of Holmes, the most adapted character in the history of literature! Not to mention all the offspring he spawned, since in his wake were born a host of detectives, both near and far.
On the program: Meet the authors, lectures, musical readings, board games, writing workshops, cinema, theater, radio, exhibition. Bookshop and snack bar on site.
The MRP was created on the basis of a nationwide collection of books (15,000 titles). While it includes a number of real treasures (first editions, rare editions and signed copies), the MRP is above all an atypical library where we give pride of place to the forgotten authors of popular literature: all those who have written about adventure, love, espionage, crime, science fiction and the western, those who have dedicated themselves to the darkness and dreams of the general public.
The event is also an opportunity to find out more about the MRP?s activities and join its Reading Committee.
