In the northern hemisphere, the days get shorter and shorter until December 21, and the light declines. At this dark time of year, the Romans feared that the Sun would disappear and never return, leaving behind it darkness and desolation.
In Latin, solsticium literally means "standstill of the Sun" (statum, motionless), but Christmas means New Sun in Gallic "noio" (new) and "hel" (sun).
The period between the solstice and Christmas is one of renewal and rebirth. It's the return of light. At Logre Stables, we'll be celebrating this return with a festive program of surprises, light and culinary delights.
So please be patient. They say it's more fun to wait for a gift than to receive it...
